“April hath put a spirit of youth in everything. (Sonnet XCVIII)” ― William Shakespeare, Shakespeare's Sonnets
BACK TO LIFE
What is it about the spring season that appeals so much to me?, For one, I see nature coming back to life - colorful flowers bloom, birds sing again, and the air grows warmer and fresher. Perhaps it's because I grow tired of the darkness and stillness of winter. April feels like a welcoming month, full of light, resurgence, and promises.
Winter darkness fades
Butterflies returning home-
All life just began.
With expectation, I too wait for the sun to return, and, almost imperceptibly, it finds its way through, quietly preparing the days to be brighter, longer, and warmer. The world then seems refreshed, supplying once again what nature itself had consumed.
Salute to the sun
Wavy trees, dancing flowers-
Air fresh, vast, untamed
DARE TO BE HAPPY
In any case, April feels like a preamble of the year's hot summer - a time that encourages me to move forward, a month that inspires, whispering that the rest of the year could be even better than the last. April, is the perfect time I embrace an unquenchable thirst for life. There is an energy in the air that invites me to dare to be happy.
Feel the warmth around
Lovely days invite my joy-
Beam back at the world
"April", a piece of music that took to long to composed, makes me think of many things. But the melody, like warm waves in the air, carries me across a threshold to a greener pasture - a place where I can finally breathe, defying the coldness of winter, and feel lighter on my feet; a place where I can explore and meet new people. I can almost hear a soft whisper at my ear guiding me ahead, telling me to keep waltzing, not to stop.
Melodies I hear
Waltzing, leaping through bright days-
Birds along the way
IMPOSSIBLE TO MISS
The piano-cello duet that I am presenting here is a simple and direct dance free of prideful accidentals, a melody that could have carried me into an uncomfortable world - an unknown place that I would rather avoid. Instead, the music turns out to be kind and welcoming, almost tender, much like an easy afternoon in April.
Notes gently playing
Arriving unexpected-
Wishing spring to last
According to the quiet rules that nature imposes on everything living under the sun, springtime is the unmistakable landmark of change impossible to miss — a shift we wait for through the dismal darkness of winter. April reminds me that life can begin anywhere, at any time, and often more gently than I expect. Every year, I find myself eager to breathe in a new beginning: planning what music I’ll compose next, imagining the time I’ll spend sipping coffee on the porch, taking in the fragrance of flowers, and following the dance of butterflies and birds move about. Life is good.
Smell, taste, see and touch
Flowers, coffee, birds in fly
April has arrived
