How can believers take God seriously? I mean, he chose humans to deliver his... message?

That communication strategy has failure written all over. If I have something important to say, I don't choose the least reliable part of the system and put it in charge of delivering such an important message.

I certainly would not hand it over to millions of unqualified individuals and allowing them to interpret it, rewrite it, translate it, argue about it and then, let them kill each other over its meaning.

God says something to a human being, the human being tells everybody else, and now I am expected to trust the process. Have you met humans?

We can't even agree on what happened five minutes ago, and yet somehow we are entrusted with explaining the intentions of an invisible, all-powerful being to the rest of the species. That is quite a responsibility. Personally, if I were God, I would look into other options. I don't know what those options are, but I would certainly schedule an emergency meeting.
